Children's Miracle Network

In 2007 your credit union raised $5,471 for the local Children's Miracle Network as part of the national CUs for Kids campaign--most of which was raised through our annual holiday loan payment skip. We participated in joint ventures with other credit unions in the area raising an additional $12,808 collectively. Eastern Washington Credit Unions are the largest sponsor of our local Children't Miracle Network.

National Letter Carriers' Food Drive

Progressions Credit Union employees teamed up with the National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 442 on Saturday May 12th 2007, to support the NALC Food Drive.  Last year, letter carriers, Progressions employees and volunteers carried in approximately 142,451 pounds of food for 2nd Harvest in one day.  2nd Harvest Food Bank has a great impact on the community by helping over 15,000 people each month and providing food to 21 food banks in the Spokane area.

The NALC Food Drive is an annual event that is conducted in all 50 states and collects donations of non-perishable food items for hungry families in need.  For three years running the NALC Food Drive has collected over 70 million pounds of food per drive nationwide and is the largest one-day drive in the country.  Each year letter carriers in over 10,000 locations pick-up and deliver food items left on the doorstep of participating households.  These donations are collected on the day of the food drive and are given back to food banks and pantries in the area to benefit local families.

Progressions Credit Union supplied the collection bags that were delivered to the homes of over 175,000 Spokane area residents several days prior to the food drive.  These bags were filled with non-perishable items by generous donors and left by their mailboxes.  Collection barrels were located at each of our 3 branches in addition to those at the local post office locations.  During the NALC Food Drive , postal workers, Progressions employees and other volunteers traveled postal routes to pick-up the donations from each household.

Washington Credit Union Foundation (WCUF)

Your credit union is an active contributer to WCUF. This foundation was established to support and promote credit union development and credit unions’ commitment to social responsibility. In 2005, WCUF donated disaster relief funds to credit unions and members affected by Hurricane Katrina. Recently, WCUF was one of the first credit union foundations to send disaster relief funds to the Phillipines to help mudslide survivors. Recently, the foundation donated $100,000 and helped raise over $2 million to provide funding for a fun TV program, BizKid$, to teach kids the value of money. This program will be written and produced by the creators of Bill Nye, the Science Guy in partnership with Junior Achievement. Look for this program coming to PBS sometime in 2007. Postal Customer Council (PCC)

More than 30 years ago the PCC program began providing business mailers with a forum to discuss and resolve mailing issues with their local postmaster. The PCC has members and sponsors from different businesses throughout the community. Diane Larson, our Finance Director, currently serves as the Treasurer of the local PCC.

The PCC's objectives are to foster the best postal service possible, to have communication and cooperation between customers and the US Postal Service, and to develop ideas and suggestions regarding improvement of your postal service.

Supported by the US Postal Service, the PCC offers its members valuable information to help them grow and develop professionally through focused educational programs. To join the PCC or learn more please click here.
